Hogs for the Cause
Cashless POS, access, and mail fulfillment for New Orleans’ premier charity BBQ festival.
Hogs for the Cause is a New Orleans barbecue cook-off and music festival that funds housing and grants for families of children with pediatric brain cancer. It started in 2009 as a backyard pig roast for one local boy battling an incurable brain tumor and has since grown into one of the largest barbecue competitions in the country.
Dozens of BBQ teams and bars need to sell across the festival grounds outside the University of New Orleans Lakefront Arena, while organizers send every dollar to the cause instead of to cash handling.
We deployed around 165 POS devices on wrstPOS so every vendor ran cashless, paired NTR-6 portals and handhelds on wrstSCN for entry, and ran box office and top-up stations, with wrstCORE holding balances, scans, and sales reporting in one record.
In 2026, we covered cashless, access, and mail fulfillment for 15,000 attendees, a legacy engagement running across six consecutive years, with 165 POS terminals and an increase of more than 1,700 advance packages fulfilled compared to prior editions.
